W. Aubrey Standing appeared in London as Harold de Vere, the title character, in the musical comedietta A Simple Sweep (Scala, two performances in November 1906). It was his only named part on the London Stage.

He joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company at the Savoy as a tenor chorister in January 1907, during the First London Repertory Season, and remained with the Company until the season ended in August.
