MOORE AWARDED N.S.F. GRANT TO SUPPORT TOPOLOGY RESEARCH
Justin Moore has received a grant from the National Science Foundation to support his research in set theory. The grant, which totals $72,046, is entitled Combinatorial Set Theory and is effective July 1, 2004 through June 31, 2007.
The research project is to study applications of combinatorial set theory to classification problems for linear orders, graphs, and topological spaces. More specifically, the aim is to classify the minimal uncountable objects of a given category. The focus is on using new methods that the PI recently developed for solving an seemingly unrelated problem connected to Cantor's Continuum Problem. The grant's budget provides the PI with summer salary, travel support to attend conferences and visit other researchers, support for bringing relevant experts to Boise State, and the cost of books and materials.
