1 O God the ruler of our race, 2 From every heart ascends the prayer —
The ways of men ordaining,     For evermore defend him,
Anoint our King with sov’reign grace   O shield him with a Father’s care
His right and cause maintaining.     And heavenly counsel lend him.
Our Stay and Refuge Thou hast been   Thine ear is open to his call,
In every generation,     Thy love his footsteps guideth,
O let Thy mercy still be seen   Thou wilt not suffer him to fall
And hear our supplication!     Who in Thy love abideth!

3 O day of joy, send out Thy light 4 All praise and honour be to Thee,
With strains of gladness ringing,     The God of pow’r and glory,
While all our realms in one unite   We own Thy might and majesty
Their heartfelt homage bringing.     And humbly bow before Thee.
The God who blessed us in the past   God save our King and Queen we cry,
Is still his mercy proving,     Through life forsake them never,
‘Tis He who binds us firm and fast   Then may they reign with Thee on high
In love unmoved, unmoving!     For ever and for ever! Amen.

          Mary Bradford Whiting.
