Miss Bridget D'Oyly Carte and Mr. Robert Gibson, the Director of Productions,
discuss a model of a set for Princess Ida with its designer, Mr. James
Wade.
When the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company revived Princess
Ida during the 1954 London season at the Savoy, it had not been
performed by the company since 1939.
The costumes and sets having
been destroyed in an air raid during the Second World War, James
Wade was commissioned to provide new designs for the production,
which was staged by Robert Gibson.
