THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Arthur W. Fowles (1892-93)

Arthur W. Fowles was a chorister with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "D" on tour from March to May 1892, and with the main London company at the Savoy from September 1892 to April 1893. He appeared as Samuel Chunk in the one-act companion piece Captain Billy (and possibly as John Dory in The Vicar of Bray) with Company "D," and as Nicodemus Knock-knee in Haddon Hall at the Savoy. He also filled in there for three days (January 18-20) for Richard Green as Sir George Vernon.

His only other London role was Inspector Morrison in a single matinee performance of Rutland Barrington's comedy Bartonmere Towers at the Savoy on February 1, 1893.
