Joyce Mably Perry was a member of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus from December 1930 to July 1933. She then left the Company and the stage to marry Dr. Hugh Garland, a neurosurgeon. After several years in India, the Garlands returned to England, where she maintained contact with her former colleagues in the D'Oyly Carte and the greater Gilbert & Sullivan community throughout her life. In her later years she was a frequent honored guest at Oak Hill Manor for Gilbert & Sullivan concerts and special events.
