THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANYCharles Savidge (1881-82) [Born Lambeth, London 1850] A member of the D'Oyly Carte chorus during the original run of Patience, Charles Savidge's name appears on a letter of appreciation to Gilbert, Sullivan, and Carte signed by the "Gentlemen of the Chorus" on 2 January 1882. Savidge later appeared in the British provinces as a chorister in The Punch Bowl, a comic opera by T. Murray Ford and John Storer, in 1888. |
