THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
Frances Seymour (1921-27, 1931-32) Frances Seymour
joined the D'Oyly Carte "New" Opera Company chorus in December 1921, remaining
with them until the "New" Company was disbanded in June 1927. For portions of that time she appeared
regularly as Leila in Iolanthe (1923-24 and 1925-26), Peep-Bo in The
Mikado (1923-26), and Ruth in Ruddigore (1924-26). She also filled in occasionally during the
1924-25 season as Hebe in H.M.S. Pinafore and Phoebe in The Yeomen of
the Guard. She later appeared as a bridesmaid in Trial by Jury in the Courtice Pounds Tribute Fund Matinee (His Majesty's Theatre, December 12, 1927). Miss Seymour returned to the remaining D'Oyly Carte Opera Company as a chorister in November 1931, but left the following April. |
