The tentative calendar for the semester (prepared by Dr. Grantham) is attached; again, you need to read the indicated section before coming to class! We will not be able to cover the entire book; I hope at least to cover all the sections indicated, and if time allows we may cover a few more, to be chosen based on student interest and my judgment. Tentative exam dates are indicated on the calendar; I will try to provide outlines of the specific material to be covered on each exam.
My designated office hours will be as follows:
| Monday | 8:40 am | and | 1:30 p.m. |
| Tuesday | and | 1:30 p.m. | |
| Wednesday | 8:40 a.m. | and | 1:30 p.m. |
| Thursday | 8:40 am | and | |
| Friday | 8:40 am | and | 1:30 p.m. |
The 8:40 hours are in MG204A and the 1:30 hours are in MG104 (the calculus lab); Math 156 students are welcome to attend hours in the lab.
I will usually be in my office most of each day, and I am willing to see students at almost any time they drop by. I will also be happy to arrange an appointment in advance.
I can be reached by phone at 385-3011 (my office) or at 345-2899
(home: please no calls after 8:30 pm on school nights; I'll be reading
to my children; also, do not call between 6 pm Fri. and 6 pm Sat;
calls at other times are welcome), or by e-mail at
holmes@math.idbsu.edu. I will put this syllabus and perhaps other
course materials on my WWW home page,
http://math.idbsu.edu/faculty/holmes.html.
